So, this is partially inspired by Superchick's "Stand in the Rain"

Roderich stood out on the school grounds, ignoring the cold biting through his coat. Sticking his hands in his pockets, he looked out over the small pond that took up one corner of the grounds. Behind him, the silhouette of the buildings could be seen, but he ignored them, and any noises from them. He needed to think, about everything… where his life was going from there.

It finally happened.

The ultimatum.

“Roderich Edelstein. This is your final phone call from me. You have one month to decide whether you want to stay an Edelstein or lose all your family and all the status that comes with it.”

“Father. I’m staying here. You can remove me from all family records for all it matters. I have what I want here.”

“…Foolish child.”

The phone had clicked off with a sense of finality, and he had a feeling he wouldn’t hear from anyone, including Elise for a while. Looking up, his eyes met a pair of red ones, and he turned away. Setting his phone on the counter, he grabbed his jacket and left, not saying a word. Rushing out of the building, he ignored anyone trying to get his attention, including Sara and Starr. He hadn’t stopped walking until he reached the lake, knowing there, no one would bother him.

The rain started then, and he let all the frustration, tears, and emotions over the situation fall from his body. He never thought his father would go this far, stripping his family name from him. Before he came to the school, it had been everything he clung to, knowing that he would have a promising future with his last name.

Now…?

Now he was happy, but faced an uncertain future. His coat soaked, he could feel the water soaking through the dress clothes he wore, not having changed from teaching his classes. The rain fell stronger, and he looked up towards the sky, letting the water mix with the tears and letting it wash them away.

It was cleansing in a way, and he let the water drip off his hands, taking a seat on a nearby bench. It was all for the better. The harassment would be ended, as his father would now refuse to acknowledge him in anyway. Although it came at the cost of speaking with his mother and sister…temporarily. Elise would end up commandeering Elizabeta’s computer soon enough, and his Skype would blow up with phone calls.

It took him a few moments to realize the rain had stopped falling on him, and looked over to see someone sitting next to him, holding an umbrella over the two of them.

“This seems familiar.”

Ja.”

“You need to stop getting lost in the rain.”
